Capture those precious memories with a life cast. I use completely safe, skin‑friendly alginate, making it gentle enough for newborns and comfortable for all ages.

The molding process only takes a few minutes, while the drying, refining, finishing, and painting take up to eight weeks to ensure every detail is perfect. I completed my professional training in 2026 and have been casting hands, paws, and little feet for years. I’m based in Leigh‑on‑Sea, but I can travel if necessary. Please contact me to discuss your cast

The Process

Life casting is a wonderfully messy job, so I set everything up before we begin. Once everyone is relaxed, we’ve decided on the type of cast we’re creating, and baby (or adult) is happy, I mix the high‑quality alginate and we’re ready to start.

Alginate sets in just a few minutes, so I work quickly at this stage. When it’s set, I gently release the mould and check the detail. Little fingers and toes sometimes wiggle, so if needed, I can take another mould right away. After that, all you need to do is choose your paint colour , enjoy your cup of tea and carry on with your day!

The skilled part comes next. The mould is filled with stone plaster — a premium material that’s more durable than plaster of Paris and captures incredibly fine detail. Once the cast is removed from the mould, it’s left to dry thoroughly to prevent any moisture issues. Then it’s carefully sanded, refined, sealed, painted, and finally finished with wax to make every tiny detail stand out.

Your completed cast will be beautifully presented either free‑standing or in a frame, ready for collection
